We Offer Several Types of Implants in Stittsville
Stittsville Braces produces custom dental implant solutions designed to meet your dental needs. The following list outlines the variety of techniques and materials used in our dental clinic to produce your dental implants.
Ceramic Dental Implants
Ceramic dental implants are also known within the industry as zirconia implants. Zirconia is a type of ceramic and can be used in several dental applications, including the manufacturing of the implant itself as well as the core (or substructure) of the tooth. Using zirconia as the substructure material can provide a more aesthetically pleasing result than titanium as zirconia is lighter in colour and less likely to be seen through the outer porcelain layer.
At Stittsville Braces, we typically use dental implants that are made of titanium; however, we usually use zirconia substructures for individual teeth or bridges that are visible when you smile.
Porcelain is another type of ceramic material that is used in the creation of a patient’s new smile. It is not a component in the dental implants themselves but is used to create the outside of the teeth. The porcelain teeth, which rest above titanium or zirconia substructures, are attached to the implants and are painstakingly crafted by our in-house dental ceramists. Your new teeth, be they part of an arch, a bridge or a single tooth will then be attached to your implants, creating a strong, aesthetically pleasing smile.
Porcelain Crowns & Dental Implants
Are you considering dental implants to restore the beauty of your smile? Stittsville Braces can help you understand the benefits of porcelain crowns for your dental implants and explain how they can create the aesthetically pleasing smile you've always wanted.
Strong and durable, porcelain material offers both functionality and a pleasing look that will blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. When placed over titanium or zirconia implants, porcelain crowns are an excellent choice for your dental implant crown and can help you achieve a completely natural appearance. Each porcelain tooth is carefully handmade by Stittsville Braces’ in-house dental ceramists to match the colour, size and shape of the surrounding teeth.
Titanium Dental Implants
Dental implants have been used to replace missing teeth since the mid-1960s, but in recent years their use has become much more widespread. They can be used to support crowns replacing single missing teeth, bridges that restore a larger span of missing teeth, or even dentures. Implants are manufactured from titanium, a metal that is known to be compatible with body tissues and able to bond with adjacent bone during healing. There is now a wealth of evidence from studies and from clinical experience to show that dental implants are a safe and convenient way to replace lost teeth with natural-looking results.
